Most
people today have region code limited DVD Players
as well as computers that have DVD drives that
restrict the user to watching moves with a specific
region code, today you can remote hack most dvd
players so you can watch other region coded discs,
however with a dvd drive on a laptop or PC this is
not possible, and even some advertised freeware or
shareware claims to be able to unlock the
protection however most have found the results
either unsatisfactory or they simply do not work.
So what options are left ?
Slysoft have produced a small utility that runs in the background of your computer it is called “AnyDVD” and they provide a 21 day trial that has no limitations, yes three weeks to decide whether this is for you, I think you will want to purchase this for the small one-off fee of £38.00 after you have tried it out, it not only works it does a fantastic job of it too with a few extra features thrown in.
How it works is that the application runs in the background automatically removing the copy protection of a movie once it has been inserted into the drive, the one thing that impressed me was the fact that it can remove the unwanted copyright messages and warnings and other movie adverts, you can also control the speed of the drive thereby cutting down on the noise level. To my surprise it is was also able to cope with copy protected audio CDs as well, by removing the copy protection so you can rip your albums to your PC or laptop.
Interestingly I tested this on Windows XP, Windows Vista Home Premium and also Windows XP on VMWare Fusion for Leopard 10.5 OS X, and it does a very good job, if you run Mac then make sure that you run a good Windows DVD player software like “PowerDVD 8.0” from Cyberlink because you will need a DVD decoder for “AnyDVD” to work.
Playback is not the only feature this is good for, it also allows you decrypt DVDs to an application that will allow you to export to a different format or device, Slysoft have some applications for you to try. Although one has to bear in mind local legislation and that permission should be granted from the proper authorities before doing this.
Conclusively there is no better software application on the market that can beat Slysoft AnyDVD so feel free to watch your DVDs on any PC or Laptop and enjoy!
