It does
exactly what it says on the tin, no more , no less
and to be honest, why should it. This is a cost
effective program that will easily take care of all
your copying tasks. Disc space is a valuable
commodity these days so keeping a tidy PC with all
your movies, photos and videos out of harm's way on
DVD or CD is a good move. Version 6 is
the first version I have used and it fits in with
Vista a treat. Power2Go kicks off with a clear and
colourful opaque logo before taking you to its six
icons, Data Disc, music disc, video/photo disc,
copy disc , mixed disc and disc utilities. Easy to
use it couldn’t make the task simpler if it popped
round your house and did it for you. I personally
love the express mode.
On installation with Vista, Power2Go installs a small tool bar on your desktop allowing you to drag and drop whatever you want copying into one of four small clear icons, data, audio, video and disc to disc. Nothing to go wrong, what it sees it copy’s and as you would expect, lets you keep an eye unobtrusively on the time its taking. With Power2Go there are very few extras unlike other burning software that stock up with embellishments you are unlikely to use or have other software significant for that task. That’s another plus for me, I just don’t want my PC crammed with stuff that’s ‘jack of all trades master of none’. This is a copying, burning, ripping and erasing program that does just that.
Operating system Windows Vista or XP, 2000, ME, 98SE
Screen resolution 1024 x 768 pixels
Memory
• 128 MB SDRAM for data and music burning
• 256 MB DDR RAM for video burning (512 MB recommended)
CPU
• CD/VCD (MPEG-1) production: Intel Pentium II 450
• DVD (MPEG-2) production: Intel Pentium III 800 MHz, or AMD Athlon
700 MHz (Intel Pentium 4 2.0 GHz, AMD Athlon 2100+ or above
recommended)
Password protection and encryption facilities are all there plus I’m reliably informed it recognises dual layer DVD’s although I didn’t test for this. It’s not lacking in next generation software as it supports both Blu-ray and HD DVDs. The really novice user is amply considered with the clear and concise help files covering all aspects of the software.
You won’t be able to generate labels but you’ll have state of the arc burning software that encompasses all the latest media. You’ll be searching, dragging, dropping, burning, copying and protecting all your favourite files and movies for under £20.00 and that’s a good deal in my book.
