Having
previously used the OCR application supplied with
my scanner I was amazed at the difference when I
started to use
OmniPage Professional 16. Whereas before I had
virtually given up because of the vast amount of
proofing and correction needed with the other
program, now it is a pleasure to use
OmniPage Professional 16. Three different
interfaces add to ease of use no matter what level
of experience the operator has.
By coincidence as I received OmniPage Professional 16 I had an urgent need to convert a 38 page document onto my computer and edit parts of it. All I can say is that I am so glad that I have OmniPage Professional 16 to use. I was dreading the work involved but this was a pleasure OmniPage 16 is so easy to use. Scan all the pages in and then process them. Correction was so quick. The words that were suspect were clearly listed and were easy to correct as there were suggested words listed. One click and your chosen word is substituted. Not that there were many at all. Those that gave the most instances tended to be in very small print; the vast majority were perfectly scanned. I was amazed at how productive I was able to be. This is a fast and accurate program.
Charts and tables were perfectly replicated and the opportunity to Scan and Redact certainly makes dealing with confidential documents much safer. The ability to remove text from an image and PDF file is so useful in this age of identity theft. This has become one of the innovations of OmniPage Professional 16 and makes the program even better value than before. PDF Create! 4 software is included as well as Paperport 11. So productivity is further enhanced, especially when taking advantage of One Button Workflow. The new Workflow Assistant does just what it says. It is notable that OmniPage Professional 16 is the first OCR to support 2007 Microsoft Office System Files and XPS. Windows Vista and Microsoft Office Sharepoint Server 2007. Right up to date for capacity and yet still useable with a Pentium 111 processor upward, Windows 2000[Sp4 on] XP32 bit [sp2 on] XP64 bit up to Vista 32 or 64 bit.
I use a camera to capture signs and documents at times and the distortion meant that the photo would need time in a photographic program and even then it would be obvious that it was a photo. OmniPage uses 3DC which is 3D Capture to automatically correct the distortion of the camera and also the curve of a page in an opened book. A great benefit in my eyes.
A problem we can all have is too many documents floating around, with OmniPage 16 and the added PaperPort 11 document management is straightforward. Not only this but OmniPage Professional 16 can now use Batch Processing and also Automatic data extraction from documents into CSV files for database or Excel use.
With the speed achievable using OmniPage Professional 16 on dual-core processors and the new easy to use innovations I rate this program very highly. I am just so glad that I have it. Yes I’m a fan, so will you be if you rate ease of use, productivity, convenience and accuracy along with up to date integration and compatability high on your list. If all the lines count including the bottom line, buy it, use it, benefit.
