When you
think of computers and software, do you associate
this with work and laborious tasks ? Perhaps the
vast majority do, and yet it is possible for those
that are in this frame of mind to change their
opinion, thanks to developers like PopCap Games. We
enjoyed testing a game called “BookWorm” and whilst
we are not normally known for testing games we
thought this was a standout product because of its
well designed user interface, its ease of use, and
the main objective of the game in stimulating your
mind.
How Does It Work ?
This classic vocabulary challenge really knows how to spell f-u-n. Link letters and build words to feed Lex, the insatiable bookworm. But watch out for burning red tiles... they'll send your library up in flames!
The Verdict
I think the word comes to mind “Addictive” because from the moment you load up the computer game you are hooked, and your mind is transported away from the reality of life and into creating as many words as possible to feed “Lex” the bookworm. However the real challenge comes when you think you are making progress, suddenly burning tiles appear, these burning tiles contain a letter that you have to use, and if you do not use it the whole library goes up in flames, meaning the game is over. What we particularly liked was the varying levels that are associated with this game and the HALL OF FAME where you can record your scores to. PopCap Games also provide an online version which you can try for free, they also do versions for the PDA / Smartphones and they also do a Mac version too.
So at the very least try the online version, the game to purchase for offline use is very inexpensive, and we cannot recommend this highly enough.
