Akvis
Coloriage is like having your very own digital
colouring book and I promise you it is just as easy
to use. Transform a colour photo into black and
white and start colouring with the colours of your
choice.
This program has always been a favourite of mine and came in very useful when my daughter was required to put together a project on the history of make-up. Using photographs from the 16, 17, and 1800’s meant the photographs were very dull and lifeless. With Akvis Coloriage she was not only able to add a personal touch but really made otherwise boring pictures stand out in her project.
It really is simple to use and you don’t need a degree in art as you have your basic photograph as a guide line. Just open your photo, choose your colours, and select the blue pencil to define where you want the colour to be. Then take the red pencil to highlight where you want the colour to stop, after all if you choose blonde to colour the hair, you don’t want the whole photograph to be blonde.
This is such a relaxing program to use and you will easily get the hang of it once you have coloured a couple of pictures. I’ve taken a few very sharp black and white portraits, coloured them with Akvis Coloriage 6 then enlarged, printed and framed them and they look much nicer on the wall than just plain, developed photographs. Another nice idea is to colour in a large landscape photograph using some of the colours of your room this way when framed the photograph really matches your décor and fits in perfectly.
Now, the really good thing about Coloriage version 6 is that they have added a new brush for you to tidy up any little bits of colouring manually. Any little bits that the colour didn’t quite reach can easily be amended.
Another new addition to version 6 is the fact that the program now supports EXIF (exchangeable image File Format) and IPTC (International Press Telecommunications Council). This is the extra information that digital cameras store called metadata within your pictures.
Akvis Coloriage v 6 can produce magnificent results by turning black and white into full colour, changing the colour in a colour photo, giving a black and white photo eye-catching spot colour or design your own colourisation to match your home decorating.
Available for both Mac and PC platforms
