Easy as 1,2,3. This mainly sums up this title, structured and written for any Mac user to understand. Looking through this book taught me a thing or two about the most amazing operating system on the planet.

The book authored by Robin Williams has earned a well deserved reputation in teaching Mac operating systems as well as other subjects in word and print. At the very beginning of this publication, the author assumes that each reader knows how to operate a computer. Each lesson contains goals of what will be achieved by following a series of exercises outlined, it also provides an introduction preparing the reader for what follows. The book divided into 24 lessons split into several main headings :

Basics
Applications in Leopard
Make It Your Own Mac
Tech Stuff

Provides a complete understanding of getting the most from Leopard 10.5.

I found this whole publication an invaluable aid, filling in the gaps of my knowledge of Apple’s latest operating system. I wholeheartedly recommend this to any Mac user.

Apple Certified ! Yes recommended by Apple, so its got to be good right ?

Well for most maybe, the reason I make this point is that if you are a more experienced user this book may not be for you, it is clearly aimed at the beginner with little to no experience, someone that has a curiosity for what the iLife 08 applications can do. This is a great book to have for the new Apple Mac user. It also contains a DVD-Rom disc that contains all the files you need to follow along with the multitude of exercises distributed in the sixteen lessons presented. Each lesson corresponds to each iLife 08 application and has quite a few exercises that are presented in an easy step by step process that will yield fruitful results. Furthermore large colourful screenshots with additional information assist the reader to grasp the presented material.

The authors of this publication have really taken the new user into consideration, they have chosen the media files to be as realistic to what a new user would produce themselves and they have presented the methodology in a way that a new user would understand.

If you are a more experienced user then why not try “The Macintosh iLife 08 - By Jim Heid” the review can be found on our website.

A definite recommendation from us at Software Editorial.

The ultimate guide to the Macintosh iLife 08.

Examining the many pages you start to realise the hard work that has gone into this publication, careful thought has been given to the layout and structure of this visual guide, colourful pictures and screenshots adorn this well presented book. This is now the sixth edition that has grown from a 120 page book into an amazing 400 pages, these pages aren’t filled with unnecessary information, but carefully well thought out content that includes some informative pictorial diagrams, as well as definitions of the latest technologies available. Although this book is clearly for Apple iLife 08 users, it contains additional information that allows you to integrate iLife 08 applications with other well known software programs, and hardware devices available into todays market. At the back of the book is a well documented, easy to follow index so you can quickly locate information on how to execute a task in one of the applications.

Jim Heid is at the top of the tree as far as the Apple community is concerned, he is highly respected for his contributions to Apple and the MacWorld magazine well known to all of us at Software Editorial, I am definitely pleased to have a copy of this fine publication. However If you think Jim is satisfied with just a book, then think again ! There is a website you can go to for further information and updates
www.macilife.com.

What can I say other than this “If you ain’t got it, then get it”.

iPhoto 08 for Mac OS X is probably one of the most easiest applications to use in the entire world, with a whole host of features to wow any onlooker. However I was a bit hesitant to review a publication that I didn’t really think was necessary. However as you start to read the book you realize that you have at your disposal everything you will ever need to know about iPhoto 08 from Apple, there are certain aspects that I had not taken into consideration regarding splitting already existing events, cropping images to take into account aspect ratios, plus a few other issues. Beautifully illustrated, well presented and now in full colour, inexpensively price gives every mac user the opportunity to know all there is to know about Apple’s iPhoto 08 application.

There are basically two types of iPhone books out there: (1) The Tell-me-all-about-it kind, which includes in-depth discussions on everything from wireless network protocols to advanced compression codes. (2) Then there's this book, which instead is a show-me-how-to-do-it book, that skips all the confusing techno-jargon and just tells you, in plain simple English, exactly how to use the iPhone features you want to use most. The iPhone Book is from Scott Kelby, the award-winning author of the smash bestseller, You'll quickly learn how to use the most useful and most requested iPhone features so you can start having fun, and start really using your iPhone today - right now! If you're ready to learn just the funk and not the junk, it's all here - in the only book of its kind - and you're going to love it.
