SoundSoap
as the names suggests is an audio cleaning
application designed specifically for non techies
who want to rid themselves of the nasty clicks
crackles and hiss from records and cassettes, It is
as easy as putting soap into your hands and washing
them with water.
Bias are particularly experienced in audio restoration and editing. SoundSoap 2 comes as a VST plugin or as a standalone product, as a standalone program all that is required is to simply import your audio / video file within the program, you will notice that the interface is clearly set out with knobs and sliders as you would on a piece of hardware, but for the really inexperienced all you simply do is to click the middle button which is the Learn Noise function, what this does is examine a few seconds of the audio file and then automatically sets the noise tuner and reduction controls. However for the more patient simply adjusting the controls slowly one at a time moving from left to right will give a better result. with the automatic configuration you may find that a minor tweak will improve the overall effect. although a perfect result is far from guaranteed it is a case of trial and error in our opinion.
However we find this software for Mac & Windows an effective and easy to use application, perfect for the general user who does not want a complicated setup, but wants to go on enjoying good quality audio and music. But please realize that you cannot make a perfect quality audio file out of a second rate recording.
